The agency has been working in group and individual health insurance since 1987.  We have three licensed health insurance brokers: Cheryle (Calhoun) Bailey, Eric Barton, and Henry Shumake. Cheryle Bailey started the agency in 1987.  Eric Barton joined the agency in 1989.  Henry Shumake joined the agency in 1990. 

 

The agency sold its first large group of 50+ employees in December of 1989 and has grown to six large group clients of 50+ employees and 19 small groups of 2-49 employees.

 

One of our many goals is to facilitate clients obtaining the best health benefits for the best rate available. We lead our clients in educating their employees on the benefits as well as working with clients, employees and insurance providers to settle most any issue.  We are available to assist our clients and their employees at our local office and offer emergency contact numbers for after hours and weekends. 

 

We strive to provide clients the best service as they are our number one concern.  Because of dedication to our community, marketing efforts are kept local and we are here to meet the needs of our clients every day.

 

Our brokers have years of experience in the utilization of fully insured or self insured plans and offer counsel on suitability.  Our agents are engaged in implementing new concepts in employee benefits that combine Health Savings Account medical plans (HSA) and Preferred Provider Organization plans (PPO).

 

Our brokers’ expertise include education of benefits and servicing clients. They remain abreast of new regulations including the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) commonly known as the Affordable Care Act (ACA). They have introduced groups, over 100 employees, to implementing a private exchange.  This requires many hours in educating and advising employees as to which plans are best suited for their specific needs.  These private exchange programs are designed to be in conjunction with requirements set by the PPACA.

 

Barton Insurance Services is the only local agency with experience in implementing a private exchange. We have current experience with defined contributions, more so than any other local agency. Experience with public entity group health programs is another unique quality of our agency in Farmington. We know the region’s managed care provider networks extensively by operating within its boundaries for years. We take pride in the fact we have never lost a group because of substandard agency performance, which is an attestation of exemplary customer service.

 

The brokers take great care while reviewing reports from the insurance providers and apply collaborative techniques with the actuaries to achieve the best rate. Ultimately the goal is to be the best broker and service agent for the client.
